During the recent USA vs. Australia World Cup match, play came to a halt when the referee was sidelined by severe cramps. The solution? A bottle of Pickle Juice.

For soccer fans around the world, it was a strange and memorable moment. For those of us in Mesquite, it was a reminder that one of our hometown companies has built a product trusted on some of the biggest stages in sports. What many people don't realize is that Pickle Juice is made right here in Mesquite, Texas. The company manufactures its product using Mesquite water, employs local workers, and ships its product around the country and beyond. On a day when millions of people were watching the World Cup, a little piece of Mesquite was there too.

That's something worth celebrating.

We often talk about economic development in terms of buildings, jobs, and investment dollars. Those things matter. But stories like this remind us what economic development really looks like.
