Daniel Alemán Jr. was elected as Mesquite’s first Latino mayor Nov. 2021. Prior to his election, Mr. Alemán represented District 6 on the City Council since 2016. Mr. Alemán has been a resident since 1998.
Mr. Alemán earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Dallas Baptist University and a Master’s of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Debbie, are the proud parents to Jennifer Salazar, Stephanie and Joshua Alemán. They have five grandchildren with one on the way any day now.
Mayor Alemán has a passion for serving others. His daily duties include serving as Pastor of Creek Crossing Harvest Church. Additionally, he has served as president of the Mesquite Ministerial Alliance and has been actively involved in the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce and Community Heart of Mesquite. Mayor Alemán serves as a mentor for the Poteet High School Football Team and for the Men of Honor Program at Terry Middle School.
Mayor Alemán’s commitment to youth is also evidenced by his annual gathering of football players from local high schools. Last year he and his church served steak dinners to nearly 600 young men with a message of encouragement and respect.
As Mayor, Mr. Alemán represents the city on numerous boards and committees including representing Mesquite, Balch Springs, and Sunnyvale on the Regional Transportation Committee.
